6th Annual Salvation Army Golf Classic
Today the Salvation Army hosted the annual golf classic at the Highlands Golf Club in Edmonton AB. This years proceeds have been designated to the construction of a new cabin at Pine Lake Camp. This year 144 Golfers took to the course and a great time was had by all. Great food, great prizes and great fellowship, a job well done by the Prairie Division PR team.
Women's Camp 2008
This coming weekend are ladies will be attending "Ladies Camp" at Pine Lake Camp. They plan on leaving Friday morning and will be returning Sunday afternoon!
Be sure to pray for the ladies of our Church and of the Division and they gather together to learn and enjoy fellowship with one another.

Our young people will be leading us in worship this Sunday through drama and the little guys will be singing for us.

Dear Friends,
At such a time as this, we are calling on fellow Salvationists to join in prayer for the people of Myanmar and China. While we long to offer more practical support, our family in each of these countries has asked that above all we remember them in prayer.
· Pray for The Salvation Army community in both Myanmar and China as they respond to the needs of those around them despite the losses they have suffered personally
· Pray for those who have lost children, husbands, wives, parents and loved ones
· Pray for the ongoing rescue work in the rubble of buildings and structures
· Pray for those communities still isolated from emergency relief and support
· Pray for the injured that they will receive medical care quickly
“Hope is believing despite the evidence, and watching the evidence change.” Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners God is faithful and bends His ear to the cries of His children.

IHQ website - MAJOR Mike Caffull, The Salvation Army's International Emergency Services Field Operations Officer, has been granted a visa for entry into Myanmar and is en route to help and advise the local teams already working there. Despite the difficulties of getting assistance into Myanmar, The Salvation Army's in-country personnel have been working hard to give help and support to victims of the Cyclone Nargis, responding within hours of the cyclone.
Commissioner David Bringans, leader of The Salvation Army in Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar, reports by telephone: 'Our people in Myanmar have been working tirelessly since the cyclone hit their country. There are four teams of people distributing aid in and around Yangon (Rangoon) and among the small, badly-damaged townships surrounding the city. Safe water, food and shelter equipment have been their priority and this work continues.'
The widely-reported difficulties of getting visas for aid workers has hampered potential further assistance by The Salvation Army from outside Myanmar. Even the territorial leaders, based in Singapore, have been unable to secure visas to visit and support their teams in Myanmar.
When Major Caffull reaches Myanmar, an assessment will be conducted in order to plan further assistance in the immediate and longer term. The most pressing task will be to assess the extent to which the local teams are able to carry out necessary emergency response and to work with them in deciding the most appropriate and needed action in the coming days.
Discussions have already taken place with other major humanitarian groups interested in partnering with The Salvation Army. With most groups finding difficulty in getting access to Myanmar, some organisations are grateful to be able to make the most of The Salvation Army's infrastructure and influence in the country.
Major Caffull says: 'Despite the difficulties being encountered regarding access and supplies, I am hoping that my visit to Myanmar will assist the teams already working there and help the international Salvation Army plan for the next phase of recovery for the people so badly affected by this disaster.'

It is our privilege and with great excitement that we introduce you to the newest St Albert Corps Officers - Jason & Gaye King along with their daughter Kianna. Please join with us as a unified voice in welcoming the King family to Alberta.
In the coming weeks as the transition takes place be sure to pray for them as they leave Hanover Ontario and head West. There are anticipating that they will arrive by July 4, 2008 with their first Sunday being July 6, 2008.
Let us assure you that they are extremely excited about coming and are very enthusiastic about getting to know each and every member of the Corps and Community family.

A Change in Leadership
We are very sad to be saying good-bye to our beloved pastors and friends... Captains Les & Tiffany Marshall, Courtney and Adam. They will be taking up new ministries in Winnipeg as the Divisional Secretaries for Public Relations and Development for Manitoba & the Northwest Ontario Division.
We are excited to be welcoming Captains Jason & Gaye King and their daughter Kianna, coming to us from Hanover, Ontario. Our church phone is ringing off the hook with commendations for this young family & their love of people & passion for ministry.
Let's keep both of these families and both congregation-families in our prayers during this time of transition!
We also have news that our Cadets Jon and Tracy Savage have been appointed to The Salvation Army in Cranbrook, BC for their Summer Assignment. This appointment is a part of their Training College experience.

Annual Officer Personnel Change
Tomorrow morning Salvation Army Officers across the Canada & Bermuda Territory will recieve official word that they will be moving to a new appointment. Please ensure that you add all officers and their families to your prayer list. As I am sure you can imagine, this is a very emotional and challenging time of year for everyone involved (for the officers and their families and also for the people of the appointments in which they currently minister to).
In the move process always remember that God is in control and has a plan for each ministry unit including the units that will be in transition in the coming months.

WOW - what a blessing it was to have the Edmonton Temple Worship team with us as we worshipped not as individual Corps but as fellow believers in Christ.
Special thanks to Edmonton Temple for parting with many of their key worship leaders so that they could come and lead worship here in St Albert.

Studies Have Begun...
Yes its true that the spring session of bible studies have begun once again.
Dont fret - there is still time to sign up and get involved. Be sure to come to the Church on Tuesdays at 6:30pm for dinner and then enjoy a study of your choosing (In this six week mini session you have 5 studies to choose from).

Marshalls Final Update
Sadly our vacation has come to an end and we will be returning home tomorrow afternoon. We have really enjoyed ourselves here and except for yesterday the weather has been more then perfect. We have had quality time to spend with friends and family and have done as much shopping as one can imagine. We all look forward to seeing each and everyone of you in the week to come.
Spring Session - Study Series Coming April 8, 2008
Small group studies are scheduled for Tuesday evenings beginning April 8.
The evening starts with an optional supper at 6:30pm and a chance to socialize. Meal contribution is $3 per person.
Studies will begin at 7:30pm and run until approximately 9:00pm.
There are five studies to choose from:
1. Proverbs – An examination of the Book of Proverbs in a search for spiritual wisdom and maturity. Led by Gary Haynes.
2. Purpose – An in depth study focused on seeking more purpose in your life. This is a follow-up study from “The Purpose Driven Life”. Led by Walter Kwak.
3. Priorities – Establish the practice of setting the priorities in your life aligned with Christ’s teachings of seeking fulfillment. Led by Joe and Donna Ludlow.
4. People and The Salvation Army – A discussion of soldiership, adherents and general church membership. Led by Captains Tiffany and Les Marshall.
5. Fruit of the Spirit – This combines scrap-booking with a study of the Bible under the tutelage of a scrap-booking expert. The study started this fall, but it is not too late to join.
