Marshalls Update # 2

Here are some of the latest pictures. My son and I got to enjoy our second blue jay game as my wife and daughter went out shopping.

The weather has been just beauitful here. We have yet to go to the beach (just the FREEZING cold pool) but rest assured we should be getting there within the next few days.

We are keeping you all in our prayers and look forward to seeing everyone when we return.

Marshall's Vacation Update #1

Greetings one and all from sunny Florida!

We have all arrived safe and sound and the sun is shining and the temps are very enjoyable.

Thus far we have enjoyed the pool, worked on a sun tan, done some prelim shopping, Adam got his hairs cut and tonight Adam and I are headed off to the bluejay game in Dunedin vs the Cincinnati Reds.

Here are some pics - enjoy!

Good Friday

The Wonder Of Your Cross by Robin Mark

The wonder of your cross shall be our meditation
To gather in that shadow when the sun went down
To weep with those who thought that you were leaving,
You were leaving, Jesus
The humble King who never wore an earthly crown.

To steal away at night when they took down your body.
With love and tears to leave You in a borrowed grave
To go with Mary to the place they laid You,Where they laid You, Jesus
And in the morning find the stone was rolled away

The cross, O the wonderful cross
What Glory, what victory, I've found
I'll come to the wonderful cross
And my whole life I lay down

Were heaven's praises silent in those hours of darkness?
Your Holy Spirit brooding round that empty throne?
Until the declaration "He is Risen", You are risen, Jesus,
"He is not dead, behold He lives for evermore".

Also, Stefan played the role of Peter - well done Stefan!

Praise & Worship led by Capt Tiffany and the rest of the team - well done!

All in all - a wonderful day - Oh by the way - Capt Les did ok as well!

Weekend musings.....

Today, as we celebrated the second week of Lent, we continued with our sermon series - "Hearing From God". Last week we focused on James, this week Judas.

Also......

- This years self denial campaign began.

- Several of our young people and their leaders were in Red Deer participating at "Winter Weekend" at the camp.

Tomorrow for family day members from our church will be heading to the Clareview recreation Centre to assist in serving supper and help out with the carnival that has been planned for local residents.

The Battle of St Albert(a)

2008 Self Denial Campaign continued...the plan

This year the Church will be divided into two teams - Team William Booth and Team Catherine Booth. Yes you guessed it - men against the women. The first team to raise $2500 of the total $5000.00 objective wins. The losing team then must state that they are not worthy to the winners in a sunday morning service.

100% of all proceeds raised will be given to our Territorial Headquarters Missions Project in Toronto which will be given to the work in Mexico.

Please give generously to this years campaign.

2008 Self Denial Campaign

Purposely coinciding with lent, this years self denial campaign begins this coming Sunday Feb 17, 2008.

Self denial is the time when we deny ourselves (not the church) certain privileges that we enjoy here in Canada such as going out for coffee, lunches, dinners, etc. The idea is that we all either stop or reduce these outings and instead give what we would have spent on this things to our missionaries serving in different countries who are less fortunate then we.

This years campaign will last 7 weeks (assuming we hit our target in this time frame) and our goal is to raise $5000.00. If each and every person that came to church gave an average of $20.00 each week we will surpass our goal in this time frame.

Be sure to come this Sunday and participate in this years Self Denial campaign.

Lent has begun

Starting last wednesday (Ash wednesday) the lenten season began.

Lent, in most Christian denominations, is the forty-day liturgical season of fasting and prayer before Easter. The forty days represent the time Jesus spent in the desert, where, according to the Bible, he endured temptation by Satan.

The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer—through prayer, penitence, almsgiving and self-denial—for the annual commemoration of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus, as celebrated during Holy Week, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Yes - Spring Has Arrived!

Yes its true the RV's have landed in Edmonton at the Agricom. Of course this means that spring has come. Forget what the groundhogs say and what you see and feel outside - the shows clearly identify that spring has come, at least in the minds of RVers.

By the way, if you are looking for our Pastor you will find him at the show checking out every exhibit very carefully on Thursday from 5-10pm, Fri & Sat from 10am-10pm and Sunday from 2-5pm.

Word has it that the trailer pictured above is his trailer of choice this year!

See you at the show and of course we will see you on Sunday at Church as well!
